character art!

These are base prices for non-commercial commissions only; quotes can be subject to change once I've taken a look at your request. Animal portraits, RPG sheets and logos vary a lot in terms of detail - for these (and anything else not mentioned in this table) tell me what you're after, and I'll let you know.Prices-are-in-GBP.-Additions-such as backgrounds, props, complex designs or character design will add to the quote. Additional figures,-props,-and-expressions for reference sheets are available, too.[email protected]

Complex**+100%+100%+50%+75%

*Simple: a dog (additional figure), a single tree (background), a bow and quiver (prop), a new outfit for an existing character, or creating a character based on a solid description + mood board (design).
**Complex: a whole 'nother person (additional figure), a bustling street (background), a vehicle or several pairs of wings (prop), a whole new character with no/limited moodboard and description.
In order for me to supply you with a quote, I'll need to know what kind of illustration you want. I'll also need to know the complexity of the character's design, whether there will be any props or a background, and whether I'll need to do any design work. References for props, backgrounds, clothing (if not included in the character ref) and pose are appreciated for ease of communication, but not absolutely necessary.Send me an email with these details, or use the form, and I will get back to you with a quote and an agreement as soon as I can. If a response takes longer than 48 hours, please give me a nudge; there's every chance one of our emails hit a spam filter and needs to be re-sent. By approving this quote and paying the downpayment (50% of your total) you agree to the terms and conditions.Once you've approved the quote and sent over any references you have, I'll go on to work on the sketch, which I will send to you once complete. At this stage, I can make alterations until you're happy with how it's going. Once the sketch is approved, I'll send you the invoice for the remainder of your fee - once this is paid, I will go on to complete the illustration. There will be an opportunity for amendments after I complete the flat colours, and again once the illustration is complete. Further information about amendments and additional fees is included in the terms and conditions. This process usually takes 2 or 3 weeks depending on my availability and the complexity of the commission - if it's likely to take longer, I'll do my best to let you know either in advance or during the process. Additionally, I offer express delivery for +50% of your quote, to get the commission to you within a guaranteed timeframe - but if for whatever reason I can't manage this, the express charge will be refunded.I reserve the right to refuse any commission for any reason.

the legal stuff

By completing the Google Form or paying a downpayment invoice sent by me, you agree to these terms and conditions. They're worth a read![email protected]

1. Scope of Work:

The Artist agrees to create artwork as discussed with the client.
The artwork is for personal use only (non-commercial, no resale, no reproduction for profit) unless otherwise specified in writing.
The Artist retains copyright of their artwork, and may use it for portfolios, social media posts, and other non-commercial promotional materials, unless the Client requests that the Artist keep the commission private.

2. Payment:

Upon confirmation of a quote, Client agrees to pay its full amount.
Payments must be made in GBP and only via the invoice sent by the Artist.
Payment is received either 50% upfront, and 50% on delivery of a sketch, or 100% upfront.
Work will not begin until the first payment is received. Once work begins, the downpayment cannot be refunded.

3. Timeline:

The Artist will do their best to deliver the work within a reasonable timeframe as discussed with the Client.
Delays due to unforeseen circumstances will be communicated promptly. The Artist is not liable for delays caused by events outside of their control, including but not limited to technical failures, illness, or emergencies.

4. Process & Delivery:

Work on the artwork will begin as soon as the first payment is made.
Depending on the style and complexity of the artwork, there will be between one and three opportunities to make revisions. These revisions will incur no additional fee unless the Artist deems it necessary (based on complexity or number of revisions).
Final artwork will be delivered in PNG format via email attachment. Client will be provided with a no-background, transparent version where applicable. Other formats available upon request. A process video is also available upon request - but must be requested before work begins.
There is no physical product involved, and therefore no proof of postage is required.

5. Usage Rights:

The Client may use the artwork for personal, non-commercial purposes (e.g., profile pictures, wallpapers, prints and merchandise for private use, and reference for future commissions).
The Artist retains all rights to the artwork, including the right to display it in portfolios and online galleries.
The Client may not resell, mint, or use the artwork commercially without written permission.
Artist requests visible credit when the artwork is reposted online (jakdaw on Tumblr).
Private or NDA-bound commissions must be disclosed before payments are made.

6. Cancellation & Refunds:

If the Client should wish to cancel after the sketch is received, they are not bound to send the second payment, but the downpayment cannot be refunded once work begins.
If the Artist has to cancel, a full refund will be issued.
Abusive or inappropriate behaviour from the Client may result in cancellation without refund.
Chargebacks freeze the payment while PayPal investigates, which can take up to 30 days. Do not request a chargeback—if a refund is agreed upon, the Artist will issue it directly.
If the Client requests an unauthorised chargeback, they lose all aforementioned rights to the commissioned piece, and the Artist regains rights to profit from it in any way. The Client will also be blacklisted from future commissions.
